Christmas Tree decorating

It's been raining a lot lately, so much so, that Mathieu and I often joke that we are back in Hawaii surviving the 40 days of straight rain.  Okay, so it's not that bad but it's very dreary and hard for us to even think about it being time for Christmas with no freezing temps and 3 feet of snow outside.  Instead of putting up our tree like we normally do the day after Thanksgiving, it took us a whole week to get around putting it up.  It doesn't help that I'm not much help with morning sickness  a.l.l.    d.a.y. Samuel super excited about the star on top.

He's telling us all about it here.

Rachel hanging up her ornament.

Natasha placing her ornament.

Each year we get each of the kids an ornament to represent something in their life and then a family ornament from something special that we did.  Each year as we put the ornaments up we talk about what they each mean and tell the stories that go with them.  We have an ornament from when Mathieu and I were dating, from the place that we first realized we liked each other. (corny I know, but it brings me to tears.)  We have ornaments from every state we have lived in, and ornaments that have been passed on to us with a story.  Our hope is that when they are grown and have their first tree they will be able to remember these stories and pass them down or of course laugh at them. :)    I have also taken a picture of each ornament and have it in a scrapbook with the story that goes with it, so when we have company or memory loss, we will know what they each mean.

We hope your Christmas tree decorating is joyful and full of memories!
